Original Painting
Inbetween my larger more time-consuming paintings, I like to do smaller pieces that usually are quite abstract. They are whimsical ideas that pop into my head. There are many references in this painting, many of which are famous spanish painters. They are: Diego Velazques' self-portrait from the painting "Las Meninas," (1656); Andy Warhol's Campbells Soup Can (1962); Salvador Dali's melting clock from "The Persistence of Memory" (1931); Pablo Picasso's bull from "La Guernica" (1937); Johannes Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" (1665); Maurizio Cattelan's duct taped banana "Comedian" from Art Basel (2019); Kaws character by Brian Donnelly 1990s and Mario references...for fun!
